Attaching camera to a microscope?

    Hi,

Does anyone know what I need to use to attach a Nikon D300 to a 23mm microscope objective?

    Many thanks,

    Aedan

May be this is of help to you:

I’ve always found it far less involved (and with excellent results) to attach a compact digital camera to a microscope than a DSLR.
My old favourite having been e.g. a Coolpix 995, for which I merely had to machine a little ring to screw into the IF lens and which just slipped over the microscope eyepiece.

    Hi Aedan.
I’m sure Nikon do microscope adapters. I’ve seen adapters for telescopes for Canon & Nikon, so I’d imagine they also do ones for microscopes. Someone working in a medical / pharma manufacturing, laboratory or hospital might be able to help to find a source.

    Hi Mike and Fine Print,

Thanks for your help, we have been doing some experiments in the lab and at the moment we are actually getting better results without the microscope at all, just a full set of three extension tubes on a 55mm lens. We still have a lot more experimenting to do including using some longer focal length lenses.

If I find out anything interesting I’ll post it here.

    Thanks again,

    Aedan
