Hi. Am looking for a heavy duty tripod (like a Manfrotto 058b or ideally 161 Mark 2 B) to support a Sinar P LF Camera.
I’ve a Manfrotto 808 RC4 head at present (until an affordable Sinar Pan & Tilt head comes my way) and would be open
to any suggestions/offers of a suitably sturdy tripod to safely hold this wee beast. Am just about to undertake a 2 yr Masters
Programme in Fine Art so any input regarding this would be greatly appreciated within next few weeks as aim to be using the
Sinar as soon as can safely support it.
Hi, I’d have to go along with your choice of tripod. I’ve also been looking into getting a 058 or a 161; Especially for day-to-day (studio/location) work those calibers are pretty desirable.
For field-work I’ve been making do with a Manfrotto 055 and a MF359 long lens support for 9 years now, although probably not ideal; but on windy days, independent of tripod choice, ANY viewcamera becomes a bit of a kite.
In the studio I just use a studio-stand, period…. Alternatives might be a nice Ries or Berlebach, or even an old Gitzo #5.
[My camera is an old Arca-Swiss 5×7 and FL of 75mm to 450mm.] All the best!
Thanks for that input. A fellow PI member has kindly passed on info re a 117b that might just be the perfect solution, light enough to carry about (as will project is site specific) and it’s well capable of holding the Sinar P by all accounts. All I need now is a Film Fairy Godmother to supply and process the negatives for the job!! Cheers..
