Taken today at North Quay Arklow. Been a while since i posted or indeed took a HDR shot. This seemed like a probable subject.

The remains of the ‘Maggie B’ in which 2 fisherman perished in 2007. It was raised from the sea and now lies on the quay pending the outcome of court proceedings.

    Eos 7D and Sigma 10-20 10mm
    5 exposures at f/14.
    Photomatix then Photoshop.

(B&W conversion using Nik Software Silver efex Pro)

What a very sad sight it must be to the poor unfortunate family :( I think the
black and white version has the edge.

something that would make the bxw more dramatic would be instead of the tyres there was an old rusty anchor lob-sided on the grass as it would be relavant to the main subject in the image but whats not there cant be helped unless you go and steal an anchor and chuck those tyres aside! lol!

still excellent shot! would look great framed and on the wall of maybe a fish and chip shop or a fishing tackle shop!

    :P

something weird going on with the clouds, as if im looking at a 3d image without 3d glasses. makes me a bit cross eyed.

There is bound to be a bit of movement in the clouds with a HDR especially if it is a
    windy day, probably unavoidable! :)

    Many thanks for everyones comments.

fguihen – I agree – there is an ‘issue’ with the clouds upon closer imspection.

A limitation of lower end Canon/Nikon cameras is that you can only bracket 3 images.(-2,0,+2) Then i have to quickly change the settings to bracket another 3 (-1,0,+1). The wind was strong – so the clouds moved on a little.

I’ll process it again just using 3 exposures instead on 5

Nice shot tho i also find the clouds distracting :?
What about using one image to make five by changing the exposure in raw????? then work with them for your HDR shot!!
