First timer here. Not the cheeriest of first posts! Taken at the weekend in an old graveyard on the west coast.

Welcome to the site Tippilot! even though the shot is somewhat
sombre the stones are at a jaunty angle :) The sky is a bit on the
blown side but hard to get a good exposure firing into the sun!

Welcome to the site. I agree with Jenny, you’ll find it hard to get this kind of shot right with the sun in front of you, try it with the sun behind instead. Also look to liven up a static enough shot. You have shot from low down, which is a good idea, but do think about the context – for example the distant sea(?) could give the cross some reference. A final tip for b&w is to try and get a full range of tones – this shot does not have anything approaching pure black.

Thanks for the comments guys and indeed the welcome!

Still new to all of this and the suggestions are very welcome. It’s a learning process and feedback is vital. The angles of the headstones in the background are what endeared the shot to me. Might be worth another try when I’m in the area again.
