Needed to do a self portrait for my new website.Appreciate your thoughts on this in relation to composition, colouring composite on the lens etc etc etc..
Cheers
BrickerParticipantHi,
Very nice… I assume thats you holding the camera?? :)
Try “flip horizontal” and I think “Canon” will be the right way around……
5faytheParticipantHi RAS,
I think it’s a good one too.
Nice conversion.I’d think I’d flip it too.
Cheers,
John.
chris100ParticipantRASMITH32MemberThanks Guys, Yes thats me with a pic I did of my daughter on the lens. The more I look at this pick the less I like as the reflection on the left of my head from the falsh keeps distratcting and looks blown out. I have an alternative below. Is this an improvement do you think??.
PixelleMember5faytheParticipantHi RAS,
Now this is purely a personal opinion.
I much prefer the 1st version especially as a self portrait.
I like the sharpness of your face which is more prominent as I think it should be.
The flash and the camera lens are kinda where your eyes would be.
The image in the lens is an example of your work but not as prominent as in the 2nd image.Maybe if about a 1/3rd was cropped off the rhs of the 2nd image?
Them’s me thoughts for what they are worth.
Interesting thread.
Cheers.
John.
MartinParticipantWhy not take a normal head and shoulder shot if its for your website or is there some reason your including the camera in the picture?
RASMITH32MemberThanks for the feedback guys. The use of a standard head and shoulder just doesnt do it for me (personal taste). Just feel you are selling yourself as a photographer and the action image including the camera (for me) just works better.
The 1st for me is probably better but I thought it looked a little serious. Felt the 2nd was a little more relaxed looking, the thinking being that anyone looking to book would prefer to see a less serious image of the person they potentially dont know and will be wanting to feel relaxed in front of?.
PixelleMemberJust a point, I’m not familiar with Canon but is your eye looking through the viewfinder?
RASMITH32MemberfordemParticipantI like number 1, but would it be better with the flash removed, and you looking straight down the lens, just a thought…
PixelleMemberIt looked as if you were hiding behind the camera rather than actually using it. :)
But what do I know, I use a Nikon.RASMITH32MembersummerdreamnMemberi like the second one, the smile makes it. from a consumer’s point of view, if i was a mum/grannny/auntie looking for a photographer to shoot my child, the first one might make me think that you take yourself too seriously whereas the second one does give the relaxed vibe. But that’s presuming you take relaxed, natural, laid back type of photos. does that make ANY sense?
