What do I spend my 800 Euro on ?

Hi.
I am looking for a Canon EOS and a couple of lenses (standard and zoom)and have 800 euro to spare.
I currently use a Fuji S9600 but I now want a full DSLR because; 1. I will get better resolution, 2. I can interchange lenses, 3. I can get higher rates of frames per second, 4. DSLR cameras have a higher grade sensor.A lot of my work will be landscape photos with horizons up to 50 miles away but also football games with fast moving subjects.
I’m not bothered about video facilities or fancy gimmicks.I have looked at the EOS 500 and it seems to fit the bill but is there better value for my money.
Please help.Mike Croghan
Laurav123ParticipantI think nikon are way ahead of the game when its comes to iso i find iso important when shooting in low lighting condition and my partner used a d700 but i feel my nikon d300 does me rightly u can pick one up second hand at good price now
SeaviewParticipantWelcome to the site Mike, have a look in the for sale section of the site, There’s always a good bargain to be had there.
Dave.
LovelifeParticipantHey Mike
Good on you for choosing canon, i have them myself and wouldnt change :) Although im purchasing a fujifilm – but its not a regular camera so im ok to say i wouldnt change from Canon :)
First of all, you would have to see how much you spend on the camera itself, depending on the Canon you buy. (if it is 500D) every shop prices it differently, if your interested in purchasing 2nd hand i would go for that, from a reliable seller, mainly because lenses arent cheap.
I know a guy who shoots sports photography, has side line passes and everything so i can get you some tips on the lenses he uses, but from what i have come across on canon lenses, they arent the cheapest, but if you dont particularly wish for canon lenses you could go for Sigma. They make lenses for Canon also. Again you could try buy second hand.Hope this helps,
LovelifesteelydanParticipantIt may be the older Canon 30D but its now at €600 for all this…

jaybeeParticipantglass….
all the pixels in the world can’t improve an image taken with a poor quality lens….
if I were you I’d budget 600 for a lens or two (all of it if you want a good zoom) and the rest on the body
canon eos 20d or 30d would be perfect…. (couldn’t tell you anything about nikon models but that’s no reason not to buy one!!)
if you bargain hard these days you could get either of those for that much…
ps the guy on adverts is telling porkie pies… the 30d is way more than a year old unless he bought it sealed from a warehouse sale (it was released in early 2006 and replaced by the 40d in mid-late 2007) still a perfect camera for you…
