    Hi.
I am very new to Photography after only purchasing my first DSLR in September.
Here are a few I took in Lough Ennell in Westmeath the other day when the lough was frozen over,I have cropped and added preset tones in Lightshop 3.
As I said I’m only learning so be kind! but any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks

You have the makings of some nice shots there, but the most obvious error is that your horizons tend to be lopsided. I’m sure these can be corrected with whatever programme you have on your system.

There is a handy spirit level that you can get to attach to your hot shoe for about €15, helps get the horizons level in the camera. I like the shot of the snow on the branches, would make a nice print. Would be interested to see the first print without the tones.

I notice that there are quite a few dust spots, especially apparent in the last shot as dark spots near the sun and the horizon. The clone tool should be able to erase these.

Apart from that it’s a nice varied set.

I agree the shot of the snow on the branches is very ncie. Also, i like the last and third last…..nice subject matter and very good colour on these. I’m assuming you took the horizon at awkward angles to give the images a distorted effect, as in with the railway track. I think individually I’m not sure if i like it, particularly the third last I’d like to see with a straight horizon; but i think as a collection of shots there’s a theme to it and it works.

    Welcome aboard Casey,
The railway shot is eye catching to me,
Personally I would up the contrast a bit,
It’s a little to grey for my taste.
A couple of your shots are taken into the sun,
This always poses problems, lens flare, correct exposure, and so on,
If you don’t already have a good set of grad filters,it might be something to consider,
    Keep em coming,
