Chris
MartinParticipantMikkaParticipantCalumet in Belfast have it for £929 which is the equivalent of €1080.
Go to some shops here and haggle, see how close they can come to the price you have in your head (within reason)……../MikkashutterbugParticipantChris, second hand one on Adverts.ie for €640
ps just noticed it is a Sigma! but is Canon fit.tsergairlMemberthanx everybody :-) for help :-)
Jenny – sigma ?? –> no red belt on lens (hah hah hah – joke) ;-) :-)

MarkKeymasterChris,
See if MacSweeney’s will knock a few quid off. I bought by first DSLR off them a few years ago for something like only €20 extra
than the cheapest around. Camera got damaged 3-4 weeks later due to misuse (not my fault someone else :) ) and despite the fact that
the warranty wouldn’t have covered the repair (correctly so tbh), they took it back in packaged it up and got Nikon to repair it for free.Good service for a few extra quid. Always worth considering
damien.murphyParticipantHi Chris,
As far as I know, Calumet won’t ship to southern Ireland. I wouldn’t underestimate the value of a relationship with a local camera dealer, or the value of a warranty, especially if the camera dealer is used to selling to the pro market and has good relationships with the main camera companies should anything ever go wrong.
For me, that would be worth the difference of an €1100 lens online versus a €1300 lens locally, but your mileage/ needs may vary. If you are looking to shave some dollars off the price, I would not be afraid of the used market if you know what to look out for. I’ve often bought used bodies and lenses, but buying used may not be for everyone.
tsergairlMemberHi all
ooooohh, many head aches, finally i took decision, that i will buy in MacSweeney, couse if something will be wrong with the lens (hopefully not and never) than i have got only 30 km to shop with service, only one minus is that i have to wait to end of January for salary :-)
thank You all of You for all suggestions :-) and opinions
Chris
mmcirelandParticipantTry Conns Cameras either the shop or site http://www.connscameras.ie I buy most of my kit there, not always the cheapest but nearly always reasonable, their service is worth the price difference though. I did buy a lens abroad which had a fault in the first year, had to send to Nikon for repair, gone for weeks and no communication when it was gone, I also had to pay carraige. Conns will give you a replacement to keep you going while it is gone, look after shipping, and they have a few experts on their staff if you have queries about what you are buying. I have no allegience to them otherwise.
tsergairlMemberThanx MMCIRL :-)
but look:MacSweeneys price = 1299.99 + 30 km from me
Conns price = 1299.99 + 310 km from me :-)so at this stage i still stay with MacSweeney :-)
thank You again for suggestions :-)
