Hi
Im planning in getting a Lee Filters after I went through most of you photography as see alots of lovely photos and meation that the Lee Filtler helped! So I saw one on the Conns Camera Website but dont know which to get, Do I have to get that fit onto my ONE len? which lens whould suit the Lee Filters? (As you can see my lens at the bottom of the Signature)
As you can see on those Conns website > http://www.connscameras.ie/lee-filters-!288-cat.html
Seems all SQUARE glass but nothing about how to support onto the len!Hope to hear from you so I can go out this week to buy!
brendancullenParticipantHi John,
In addition to any filters you choose to purchase – you’ll also need two other pieces of kit.
Foundation Kit
1 x Wide Angle Lens adapter (77mm which will suit both the 17-35 and the 24-70) – very important to get the wide angle version!!I’d recommend 0.6 Neutral Density Graduated (soft – 2 stops) as your first filter purchase.
Here is the LEE site and info on the foundation kit.

this is what they look like out of box.

Hope this helps,

johnnycorcoranParticipantCheers!

All those items can be got for £117 from Calamet in Belfast. Now £117 converted to yoyo’s is €135 on google today.
Even allowing for maybe a tenner delivery – Conn’s is nothing short than……expensive!
Buy on-line today as the UK VAT goes up 2.5% tomorrow,
http://www.calumetphoto.co.uk/ctl?query=lee+filter&x=0&y=0&ac.ui.pn=search.Search
However – if you require an experienced and polite salesman – and quality aftercare on your filter holder – pay the extra €80++ and get it from Conn’s.
Bren
johnnycorcoranParticipantWow! Im so lucky as Im planning on the trip up to the North this thursday! Way cheaper! thanks a millions for your help!
MartinParticipantI would recommend getting the hard version of the filter not the soft version. I have a full set of hards and softs, I use the hards 80% of the time… up to you though
johnnycorcoranParticipantPixelleMemberI’m sure you’ve checked their stock levels before calling to the shop.
Not that it isn’t worth a browse anyway.
MartinParticipantPixelle made a good point. Lee filters can bet hard to find in stock, there is a very short supply of them out there so ring ahead and be prepared for there to be a few weeks delay… Robert White in the uk normally has them in stock if you need them quickly
hards would give stronger detail on the sky/cloud?
No the same amount 1,2 or 3 stop grads hold back the same amount of light.
The difference is in the graduation. A hard set will graduate much quicker from light to dark where as a soft set will graduate much slower.

MartinParticipantAlso have a read of the lee FAQ
http://www.leefilters.com/camera/advice/faq/” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;
The first two points talk about hard vs soft
Also look at the Cokin Pro filter holder. Its a cheaper holder than the lees but can hold the lee filters. Im not sure how well these work with wide angle lenses like the 17-35 though…
WestburyMemberjohnnycorcoranParticipantI just order it online! waiting for 3months! and its on the way now!
Did look everywhere to get it under a week, and seems have to order and wait!WestburyMemberThanks Johnny, thats a bummer I don’t feel like waiting that long. Do you know of any other alternatives?
