Took this awhile back. There wasnt any sun so I used black and white. Any comments welcome.

I love misty lakes, though I think the composition of this could have been improved
if you have moved to the right a bit (at the risk of ending up in the drink maybe?) the
foreground grass on the left seems to dominate the picture a little. Looks like a nice
    place though :)

Agree with Jenny. looks like this place on this morning has bags of atmosphere but the compostion is not great on this one, as you have cut both boats from the frame. Maybe next time you visit try include a full boat or both if you can safely

Strange I have a very different opinion on the composition. For me your photo is all about the atmosphere.

The boats don’t bother me, the left end is there somewhere under the weeds. The right end it under the dock. That they are actually missing isn’t important.

What I really like is the bright line of morning mist drawing my eye up to the soft patch work of fields. Lovely morning glow to things.

That line breaks the 1/3’s rule nicely. The top is dark and the very bottom is light = upside down from the norm. There is some flare or ghosting over the fields. And I’m not sure anything is very sharp. Breaks a bunch of rules/guidelines, but IMO = great shoot.

WOW, how different is what we see in, take from, the same image.

I agree with pelagic and I like the grass, think the mist brings a lovely atmosphere. The only thing i would question is the skyline, the sky is a blank white and doesn’t add much to the photo, so I’d have taken it so that the sky wasnt in the frame.

Personally, I don’t like the composition in this (but that is just my personal taste). I’m not a landscape photographer & therefore am not in the best position to give advice on how a shot like this should be composed, but as Pelagic says, we all see the same photo in different ways & this is great for us photographers because we can re-visit the same scene / subject umpteen times & return home with different results everytime.

I like the lighting and atmosphere in the shot. Fog can bring a lovely feeling to a shot that simply wouldn’t be there if the air was clear. I think the use of B&W helps in this type of shot too as it enhances the foggy feeling, but if there was a nice sunrise, the same scene in colour could be great. I also find the foreground grass to be a bit too dominant & would also have tried to move to the right to get a clearer view, but of course, this may not have been possible.

I hope my comments don’t come across as being too negative & are only intended to encourage you to re-visit the same spot & try to get a few alternative versions taken at different times and from a few different angles.
As I re-looked (if that’s a real word) at your image, I spotted a picture within the picture which I thought would look good & instead of trying to describe it verbally, I cropped your shot (hope you don’t mind) to show it.

    Keep up the good work.
