I was asked at very short notice to run a Low Key workshop at my local camera club, Im not a lighting expert by any means, I just no how to turn the lights on.

I went into this blind no idea who or what the model would be wearing so had to wing it and hope I got it right.

So when I seen the model I decided to go for a black and white setup, 10 mins later this was what we had to play with.

With more time and not such hectic shooting conditions I would have added a 3rd light to help with the harsh shadows.

The session went rather smooth over the 1hr 30mins we had to let 30 or so photographers have a go.

Many thanks to Owen O’Kane for stepping forward to model.

Hope these look ok and done the man justice.

Editing was convert to mono/ tone and resize for web.

    Cheers for looking.

Lighting consisted of what we had available:

    1 x Octodome for main light F8
    1 x Snoot
1 x reflector in some shoots if I recall.

    F8 Iso 200 1/125th

    Good shots Gareth..

Really like the Gritty-ness and detail of shot one. Looks like a real cowboy portrait!

Tommy thanks for the comments image 1 is the wifes pick of the bunch also.

Stevie, your own images should be fine if you dialed in. Hope to see some posted on the clubs flickrgroup.

    Cheers Gareth
