White Hyacinths

Hi all. Took this shot for my Day 20 365 project. Shot was taken using my Nikon D700 with my 24-70mm. I lit the flowers using two strobes. Basically catching the flowers in a strobe crossfire in order to eliminate the background. I have to invest in a black background.

You can see all the details for this shot and a setup shot on my 365 blog at http://www.sheridanphotography.ie/blog

BTW, I think these are Freesias, if anyone can identify more specifically it would be great.

Flowers correctly identified as Hyacinths and title changed accordingly.

    All C&C welcome

    Stephen ,

You have posted another inspiration for us beginners.

The strobes make the flower seen almost 3D.

Your first 20 days are going very well.

I think the droplets are a distraction on the petals, they spoil the clear lines, though they seem to sit nicely on the foliage.
    Maybe hyacinths

    Hi all,

Thanks for the feedback. I wouldn’t make a very good botanist thats for sure! Pixelle, I actually took a good few shots without the water droplets and eventually decided to go with the currently version as it looked a little fresher then the version without droplets. I can see what you mean about the clear lines of the petals though.
