I attempted this shot a couple of times now, still need to perfect it though. I need a better way of securing the tripod on the back seat, so far I’ve been using the seat belts. Anyway I tried it again on tuesday evening on my way to a VW meet up. Here are the results. All C&C’s welcome.

    Deforestation is required. :)

I’m drawn to the effect of the last one

Yeah, I’ve seen these before and it’s a very effective technique. If I’m not mistaken a member here won a competition in a UK magazine based on the theme “Speed” with something similar. I reckon a more solid method of holding the camera is required…just so we can see what Abba track you have playing on your head unit. ;-)

Love these shots, they’ve given me ideas.

My husband loves his Mini and is always trying to get different types of shots with it in. This, however, will make a really nice change, and challenge.

My particular favourite is no. 3.

    Nice idea & results.
Maybe something like this might help (available from B. Hague & co. in the UK)
    CHM HAGUE CAMCORDER HEADREST MOUNT

The headrest mount enables the camcorder to be mounted onto a car’s headrest. It is fully adjustable for the different widths of headrest.

Price: £51.00 (Including VAT at 20%

Oh dear… Miki g got me thinking. That’s bad. :)

If you’d like to own a GorillaPod, and doesn’t everyone, you could bungee cord a stick behind the headrests. Then get the Gorilla to hold your camera. Use a square piece of wood to stop him from slipping.

When not taking pictures use it as a perch for your parrot. You do have a parrot, don’t you? :P

Cheers for the comments everybody :D

Irishwonkafan, I’m going to try this again hopefully with better results, although you won’t see abba, it’s the Cujo Family

Mardai24, thanks, I hope to see some of the mini.

Miki g, thanks for the link might look into buying or building my own.

Pelagic, I have a gorillapod but no parrot , I ‘ll give that set up a try, thanks.

I’ve tried this before and i also had problems in keeping the camera steady.. for what is worth, you could try to fix the camera as good as you can, take a shot whit the car not moving and then drive around an take multiple shots. if you keep the same focal length you might be able to cut out the windscreen in photoshop and paste it over the still image.

Great shots…. although would look better if the interior was a real Beetle…. aircooled and classic….!! :-)
