All shots taken on the fly over near Silversprings Hotel in Cork City. I wish there were more cars heading away from me, needs more red lights me thinks,
Yes a few red tail lights would have been nice, did you use a tripod? seems like a bit of
camera shake especially in the last one, also did you have a filter on the lens? You will
get a bit of flare from that, see the little circles of light around the lamp posts? Take
off your filters for night shots seems to work better.
Put in your camera settings used it helps when reviewing, maybe a slight adjustment on
the settings will make a big difference. Not a bad first try though, you should have seen
mine  I almost gave up there and then!
The main things to watch for here is a) camera shake and b) flare as mentioned in the post above.
Regarding flare, minimise filters if they are being used and if you have the option of using a prime lens (non-zoom) then choose that – the lower the number of glass layers the better!!
Also, Tv mode (to set the desired shutter speed) and perhaps a -2/3rd exposure compensation in addition to a tripod would be ideal to make sure it is both crisp/clear and also doesnt over-expose (where the darker areas look well lit, and light sources would be all blown).
Many non-standard shooting situations call for either manual mode or over-riding/compensating the automatic metering suggestions to get things captured as needed.
If your camera is using ‘Spot’ Metering, change that to Evaluative also!
