Two from Glendalough
-
wirepicParticipant
A couple I got at Glendalough at the weekend. Felt guilty about not taking the camera out much lately. Made a special effort.
C&C appreciated.

Great images. Agree that the colours and composition of the second one are excellent.
shutterbugParticipantThe first has a strange colour to it, not sure if it is a caste or maybe
the exposure is off, the second shot is good though I am not overly fond
of wooly water, I do acknowledge there is a skill to achieving it, so well
done.wirepicParticipantThanks Damian.
Shutterbug, I agree there is something strange about the colour of the first one. However, the raw image looks this way as well. The only changes I made to this were a very slight change in levels and a bit of sharpening. As for the second, I’m not a great fan of woolly water either but I thought I’d try it just to see how it came out and I’m happy enough with the result.
vwphotographyMemberThe 2nd one is perfect. well done.
The 1st one sees the biggest mistake i see even professional photographers make. The verticals and horizontals are off.
What i mean is that water is always level (horizontal) and trees for the most part are always straight (vertical).
Seeing as the eyes work best with lines it is worth considering this in your composition.wirepicParticipantLook again vwphotography!
If you look at the trees near the shoreline you will notice that the angle of lean is reflected in the water. The trees are not vertical in this case. And the slight rise in the shoreline from left to right is because the shore was moving away from my viewpoint. :)

Did you try sampling the whitebalance with the eyedropper or tweaking the exposure before adjusting the levels, ‘cos its a good image but should be hopping off the screen.
The 2nd one is a keeper. I like wooly water & I’d like to see a BW version.wirepicParticipantThanks again guys.
Ger, yes I did look at the exposure on the first one. Must check what you said about using the eyedropper. I think the difference in exposure between the trees and their reflections is proving difficult for some of the software I use. Will just have to work on manual!
