Hi All,
Haven’t managed to find a thread on this so hope I’m not repeating here.
I’ve been asked to do some Communion shots. I’d normally do weddings (+ i don’t have kids myself) so don’t have a clue what to charge for this kind of work. I’d imagine it would be a rate for working, then prices for prints on top of that?
Donnie. There are different ways to price a portrait sitting as like you said a sitting fee- then a fee for the prints on top giving you the total. or a flat rate per each size of print. So say a mounted famed 7×5 will cost them € 10.00 ..
What I find about the sitting fee model is that people then think they are paying you double. The conversation can / might go like whay am I paying you €50.00 then paying again for the print. I know some people offer the sitting fee off the price of prints but why complicate things
I think i the best forward is to set a fee from the start on different sizes and not charge a sitting fee- just get a deposit on the day to cover time. I think people understand that better. during the shoot take loads of different looks head/shoulder- full – half so you can upsell never just show htem one shot. It should be very hard for them just to walk away with only what they wanted .Plus you should make more cash
