Four Courts C&C Please

  My main problem with this picture is the cars in the foreground. I did try it at different times of the day and early morning there were no cars but the sky was dead.

  Please let me know what you think.

  Hi,
  Great shot Bigjoe,love the sky,very dramatic and epic. I wouldn’t worry as the cars to me are not very obvious,in fact they could in some way add to the photo as it shows a busy street and the hustle and bustle of a busy city.

  Nice picture, i wouldn’t worry too much about the cars but i would try and correct the lens distortion. i tried it myself but i lose quiet a bit of sharpness from working on this jpg. if you have taken this in raw maybe is worth a try.

  I am new to Photoshop and have a hell of a lot to learn. I did take it in RAW but the images have been put through HDR. I have the HDR saved as a TIFF. (I also have the originals). I have no idea of how to correct the lens distortion but I will look it up and give it a go.

  I was about to say that the lower levels seem to have an HDR treatment. I like this shot. There a dramatic feel in the skies and I think it suits well the (court) building. Well done! Don’t worry about the cars, they are noticeable only because you mentioned. Maybe in a bigger resolution they would have a bigger presence. What area did you crop from the original, top and bottom? There’s a slight distortion in the quay’s wall, maybe you can address that in PS (Filter/Distort/Lens Correction/Remove Distortion – slider on top)

  I like your shot a lot – I’m not in any way to comment on the technical merits, but the sky in the first shot seems more tasty (dramatic) to me and I particularly like that aspect of the shot).

  I comment on your pic mostly because I work in the building and your shot really speaks to me – I think you nailed the character (austere, severe, still has personality, drama).

  Again, I really enjoyed your shot. And I preferred the first one.

  I am with you on the sky but someone else suggested I tone it down like in the second one. That is one of the things I love about photography is that it is a mater of opinion in a lot of cases.
