I posted this here as opposed to the nature section as I feel this shot is more of a study about the harsh environment that the oystercatchers traverse every day than the birds themselves. please comment if you view good or bad I dont mind theres nothing worse than logging on and seeing 50 views 0 comments :D

Flight of the Oystercatchers by jakiky, on FlickrMickSParticipantThats stunning John, really excellent shot. Definitely one for the wall. I would be inclined to straighten the horizon though.

johnnycorcoranParticipanttexMemberJohn to my eyes the birds look totally false. They look as if they were drawings that were dropped into the photo and they don’t seem to relate to the lighting in the remainder of the photo. If this is so I don’t think this would qualify a nature shot. Of course I may be wrong and no insult is intended, just my comments and opinion. If the shot is as taken , it is a most impressive one and well done.
RASMITH32MemberFantastic shot john well done!. Love the colours from the sky througth the water and to the red bills on the birds. This shot would sit just as easily in Nature or landscape for me. Love the action on the waves also. This is as good as a shot like this gets for me.
connieParticipantGreat capture. I also agree with the horizon being straightened slightly. I can see where Tex is coming from, as my first instinct was the picture was part painting (birds) and part photograph. Lovely to see no evident blur from the birds movements and the motion in the waves is great :)
snaphappyMemberThanks guys for your comments hadnt spotted the horizon :( . Tex no insult taken but there is very little done to this image apart from gave the red a little boost and tweaked levels here is a post of the raw file untouched whatsoever. Thanks again guys for all the feedback
IMG_1999raw by jakiky, on FlickrconnieParticipantI like the second one. The birds look like they are riding the waves. I would crop or clone out the bird on the left at the edge of the frame
flynnyParticipantIt’s a super shot ,
I’d love to have taken something like that,
Especially ‘cos next months Club comp is “Flight” :)
