Canon 1Ds mark 3 or 5D mark 2? need advice

Ok so I have the option of buying a second hand Canon EOS 1Ds Mark III Body 21.1 Megapixel for £1,200. it has a shutter count of approx 5k and is just over a year old. Recently cleaned and checked by CPS.

Another option may be the 5D mark 2 with a Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM for £1200.
I like wildlife/bugs/birds some landscape, but want to develope portrait etc.
I have a couple of good lenses and this body will replace/go along side the 500d I have.

Which one is the best long term for me.

Do either of these have issues I need to be aware of?

think there must have been something fishy about the 1Ds as he has not replied back to me as to why it was selling so cheap. To good to be true and all that :D

    Hi Connie,
Seriously…there was an issue on another site with a guy selling a 1Ds Mk111 for peanuts…the ad was found to fraudelent and I
guarantee you that this is as well …no way you would get a 1Ds MK111 for anything near a price like this… they are €7,500 new in Conns and
    I saw a second-hand one lately sell for €4,200.

Yeah I did not know at first how good a camera it was. He was fine with coming to look at it but once I asked questions not heard back from him. I am looking at camera shops in Britain as I have realised I don’t know enough to go and look at one and tell if it works properly or not. Private ads seem to be the best place for scams these days I have learned.
Wishing I lived in Ireland then could buy off of one you you guys lol!

    Hi Connie,
Check out Harrison Cameras of Sheffield. They have a large second hand department were both types of camera often come up. I recently purchased the 5D MKII for Stg 1,575 (new) One very happy customer :D . well over 3000 euro here! They have a good reputation. As to which Camera? I cant help you there as I am new to the full frame and have never held never mind used the 1D. Good look in which ever route you take but as you now know just be careful. A lot of bogus web sites popping up lately. Google the address of some of these sites and you come across more reputable camera equipment suppliers, In my serch when I googled one such site Warehouse express came up. I then contacted same to let them know about it and they informed me they had been made aware and the Police had been informed.

    Good luck,

    Aidan
