I was just wondering, in average, how long does it take you from starting to set up your equipment till you’ve packed it away again, to take a picture?
I mean mostly pictures taken with tripods..
For me (landscapes) it might involve weeks of waiting – for the weather & tides to be right. If both were good – i’d arrive an hour before sunset – set up the best shot i could think of – and wait for the ‘magic’ moment. Better to get one really good one – than running around getting 10 average ones. The ‘magic’ moment for me is just when the sun dips into the horizon.

Probably not long enough looking at my pictures :) It can be anything from seconds to hours
but dealing with mostly birds and animals sometimes you have to be quick!
for that one i took tonight that you commented on i didnt have any equipment set up. I always have my camera with my 17-70mm lens and flash attached sitting on my bed or in its bag for when i need to run out and do something. It took about, 30 seconds from my front door around the corner and behind the shed to get into position so i dunno if thats any use to you or not :) if you have a general use lens attached all the time you’ll rarely miss anything :) i have found myself rummaging around in my bag to get my 70-200 mm attached or sometimes even worse it and the 2x extender :)
