Hi I,m looking to buy a tripod, I,m new to all this so dont know what to look for. I have a cannon 550D with 2 lenses 18 – 55 mm and 75-300mm. I was looking on ebay and came across this one http://cgi.ebay.ie/New-2in1-Blue-Tripod-Monopod-ballhead-Camera-C5I-/300541855476?pt=UK_CamerasPhoto_CameraAccessories_TripodsSupports&hash=item45f9b0c6f4 Can anyone tell me if its a good one or what would you recommend.

    Thank you

It looks ok Brendan, but very hard to tell until you have it in your hand, price is good
if it is good quality, I have never heard of the brand before. It really depends on how
you want to use it as well, will you be using it just occassionally say for the odd landscape
and night shot or will it be an important part of your kit with everyday use?

I know it is recommended to buy the best you can afford and it will serve you well for years,
but in this climate I know my standards have dropped

It looks like it could be good for general use & could certainly be used for low level macro stuff. The price is fairly good too. Personally, I dont like using ball heads & not sure if this can be changed. Looking at the setup, I’m wondering, Do you have to assemble it yourself? Will you get tools to do this with the tripod? What happens if you lose your spanners etc? Can spikes be added to the feet, or can the feet be replaced? How much weight do you expect to place on it & how much weight can it take? Just some questions to ask yourself before buying. :D

Take a look at Redsnapper, their tripods are pretty good at a very reasonable price. I have one and I will certainly hold the kit you have.
