I came across the website of a guy on 1x.com called Codrin Lupei. Some will not like his stuff…others will…more will call the guys in the white coats! I like it and find it fits in well with my train of thought at the moment. I don’t expect this type of post processing which resembles high noise, poor image and lack of detail to be attractive to most but that’s not why I do it right now. Tis for me!

    The site:

    Hi Alan,

Very interesting stuff and I particularly like #1.
I think it has a mysterious feeling to it and I feel the figure adds to that feeling.
Nice dense blacks but not totally blocked up.
I thought movie poster on first sight.

#2 is well done too but somehow dosen’t hold my interest like #1.

    Nice work.

    John.

    Hi Alan,

Yep I really like this type of work. Couple of photographers in a similar style I enjoy,Susan Burnstine and Rocky Schenck. Worth a look at them.

Anyhow, I’d be very pleased with both of those photos!

Cheers John. Like I said – not everyones taste particularly more traditionalist “from the camera” photographers but it’s what interests the originator, I suppose, that matters most.
Thanks Mark…interesting links and both have become bookmarks. If you see any more like that please do pass them on.

I like the first one here Alan,
as for the general style I’m a big fan of pictorialism, and would like to dabble in those types of shots.
I guess one could classify Codrin’s photos as pictorialism, many of them look really good.

Thanks Martin – I hadn’t heard of that term before. Certainly seems to fit!
