A friend of mine has bought himself a new Canon [550 or similar.]
He connected it to his 10 year old desktop to download some pics
and that’s where things ground to a halt.
He is able to view some of the pictures on another newer computer
but the ones he really wants have disappeared.
I tried his SD card in my Nikon D80 but couldn’t view any pics.
I realise there could be any number of reasons for the loss but maybe someone has an answer.
you can get recovery software that will restore all/most pics on the memory card. Even ones I had previously deleted. Someone here will be able to reccomend one. I cant remember what I used as it was so long ago. :) good luck to him.
I have used a free program called Recuva (link below) to recover files on a memory card.
As long as they have not been written over the files should be recoverable.
Hi Pixelle,
I read an article on this in Photography monthly. They went through about 4 or 5 different pieces of software comnparing them. I don’t have the magazine with me (or doubt I can find it in the house!) but have a look at this thread on their site refering to it. Mentions some free software too.
