I’ve just joined and am relatively new to photography. I recently purchased the Nikon D7000 with 18-105 lens kit. May as well start big hey!! :D I would like some info on what sort of lens range I should have to cover the basics. I’m hoping to do a course soon and just wondered beforehand. I like taking pics of the beach/sea and scenery etc. Thanks in advance.
Hello Niall, welcome to the site :) If you are just starting off and initially like
landscape/seascape stuff then your kit lens will be fine, if I were you I would
wait a while get used to what you have and then decide on additional lenses,
it is very easy to jump in and buy lenses because you think you need them then
find they dont do the job you had hoped. Save up and buy decent lenses that
will last you a lifetime. Enjoy your new hobby and look forward to seeing some
posts.
Hi Jenny, I appreciate the advice. I suppose you are right. The lens is cool. I’m just eager to try different things. You’d swear I had cash!! I’ve taken a few pics recently in parks and at the beach so I may post them. I dont rate them tho. Theyre pretty basic. I shot on auto. I’m hoping for advice on different modes too. Its a quality camera that needs to be used! Thanks again
