First Model Shoot

Hi- am working on a new artsaward project-using the image of the female nude. As a female artist, I am very interested in using this medium- it can almost be autobiographical to some extent-very different to my digital landscape work.
So here are the first few shots I felt happy about putting up :)
Feel free to post up comments/suggestions!

Hi Lois, The first one doesnt really work for me. Your processing has resulted in an almost Posterised effect which loses all detail in the head (maybe that was intentional?).

The 2nd however is excellent. Really like the shot and the processing. Captured the shape and curves on the body well and the processing adds a nice coarse feel to the subject. Also like the way you have captured the hair, really adds to the image. Your processing of the overlay(s) sees the design follow the lines on the body which makes it sit down into the image nicely too.
    Well done!.

Hi Ras- thanks for the critique – TBH I dont really have a clue which F stops to use(!) and initially I did the pose with the model I really liked it and thought, oh thats not bad, but after your advice I looked again at the first image and OMG you are right the head disapears into the void-Ok if you are looking for a french revolution shot but yes, must look at that again if I mean to use it.
My work is more digital than photography but need a steep learning curve for photographic studio work.
I was very interested to hear your comments about number 2, which is the sort of format I am more comfortable with. I used graph paper scanned in to deaden the difference between the sea and the models colour and wanted to give her a slight androgonous feel witht he harsh tones!
    Thanks again..very encouraging 8)

You might also want to straighten the graph paper on the second shot as it’s slanting upwards from left to right a bit.
Unless that’s deliberate of course :D

Well spotted- a bit more fine tuning for this one methinks!
