Background is a bit busy and the reflection of whatever is in the foreground is
making the wine look like its curdled  and I know I have had a glass but is
the glass crooked? (or is that me?)
I was just trying to get a few different effects going. The stem of the glass is crooked. It’s a JP Chenet glass! I’ve been messing about with a new lens and shallow depths of field.
It’s just sitting on the rug by the fireplace. There is a btl of red in the background. I thought that might be significant but not obvious. Any advice?
This is something I keep practicing with. DOF :) Either bring the bottle a little closer to in get it slightly more in focus, or try a bigger F stop number… eg if you are using a f2.8 go to an f4 …( always get confused about this so that is the best way I can explain it lol ) Personally I would put this on a clean surface with no reflection and include the base of the glass so that you can see the stem is meant to be leaning. The reflection on the wine is not a good effect as Jenny said. But it does show good texture. The red of the wine is a lovely deep red.
Thanks Connie. I’ve been going into detail with f stops and iso settings lately so I’ll try this style pic again with the advice you have given me. The red wine was lovely by the way!!
