Canon refurbished equipment
-
jrdn7Participant
I came across a website a few days ago selling refurbished Canon equipment. I have seen people selling refurbished gear before but this time it seemed quite cheap. Example: Canon 70-200mm f4L USM for $567 (about £350). Has anyone ever bought from this crowd before? Or has anyone even bought refurbished equipment before?
phillipMemberi dont really know cos you didn’t give any web address to the site. :)
£ 350 sounds about right., does this include TAX & Delivery
phillipjrdn7ParticipantSorry Philip. The address is http://shop.usa.canon.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/subCategory_10051_10051_-1_22751″ onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false; for lenses & flashes. There is one too for DSLRs: http://shop.usa.canon.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/subCategory_10051_10051_-1_29252″ onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;
Yes, apparently it does include taxes & delivery. However, they only send to US addresses (handy enough I have relations in Chicargo!).
BrickerParticipantHi,
Just remember you will have to pay Duty/Taxes when the shipment arrives into Ireland. The courier company has to pay this to Irish Customs in order to clear the shipment and will then recover it from you on delivery.
Note that the exact amount of this is calculated on the value of the piece and the shipping costs.
I recall a seeing a similar site on e-bay but in the UK which would therefore have avoided these taxes. I remember at the time though that they only would deliver to the UK, so I lost interest.
Good luck!
jrdn7ParticipantI found the same crowd on ebay a wee while back, and saw they only deliver to the UK. I’ve relations in Chicago coming over here next month, so I’ll get them to bring it! Are the refurbished items as good as a brand new item, quality wise?
fguihenParticipantRefurbs are , by their nature products that were sold and returned due to issues or being defective. If the issue is not serious manufacturers will often rePair the item and sell it at a slightly lower cost, as a refurb. Read the small print though, they specify items can have signs of wear and tear.
Example, a few years ago I ordered a refurb MacBook pro. When it arrived, the bottom was all scratched, and I has scrape marks on the palm rest also. For the small discount, it was not worth it.
Just have realistic expectations.
