    I will be teaching my Darkroom Workshop for Beginners on Saturday 15th October in Airfield Trust, Dublin.

    This workshop is the perfect introduction for those wishing to learn how to develop black & white film and make enlarged prints in a Darkroom. The cost is just €75 and no previous experience is required. Full details can be seen on my web site: http://www.monochromemeath.com/section366150.html” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;

    Is this a hands-on course? I.E., physically getting film out of the reel, into the canister, developing it and then printing it? Thanks

    Hi, yes thats exactly it. Each person will develop a roll of film and then make enlarged prints during the day.

    This is a really good course to go on. Will give you all the knowledge you need to get printing.

    Did it myself a couple of years and would highly recommend it!!!

    Well, if you have any places left, I’d like to attend – how do I sign up? (Checked your site but it wasn’t obvious, sorry)

    I’d be really interested in this. The darkroom course I signed up to in Cork was cancelled as I was the only person who registered for it. :x

    I just have a few questions…

    I presume we shoot one (or more) rolls of B&W film before hand. Is there a particular film we should use? Or a particular speed of film?
    Is this the place it’s going to be on? http://www.airfield.ie/” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;

    I’m going to have to come from Cork for this. I think getting the 5am train would be too tiring so I’d plan on coming up the day before and staying the night. Does anyone have an recommendations for a relatively inexpensive place to stay? I’m not sure if there’s much going on out in the Airfield area, so does staying in the City Centre and getting a taxi out in the morning make sense? The night before I’d see if there’s something going on in the city, maybe a Leinster match at the RDS or something. Also, what’s the likelihood of the course running long? As long as I could make it back to Hueston for the 9pm train to Cork I’d be happy out.

    Hi Buceph, yes you need to shoot a roll of film (any type but let me know before the workshop date) and you will develop it at the workshop.

    The Dundrum shopping centre is within walking distance from Airfield with restaurants and cinema. I’m not sure what else there might be to do in the area. The Luas stops beside the centre also.

    The workshop is definitely going ahead and will finish at 5pm so you will have plenty of time getting to Hueston for a 9pm train.

    Pm sent to you and Alfamale with booking info.

    Hi Peter,

    If there is a space available I would like to attend this Saturday. Could you p.m. me to confirm.

    Regards, Carlos.

    A big thanks to Peter for running the course. It was great fun. He explained everything really well, everything made sense and it seemed easy enough to grasp the concepts. Then as the day went on he started explaining more and more of the “dark arts” of the darkroom. Well worth it for anyone thinking of getting in on a future course. All in all it was a thoroughly enjoyable and informative day.

    Now I just have to find a darkroom in Cork. :D
