Makes shopping for a Canon body on the internet a little more interesting now fake canon bodies have arrived.
Warning to all!!!
I have just taken two cameras to Canon’s pro services dept. for service. Mine an EOS1D mk111 and a friends EOS 7D.
My camera, no problem, will be serviced under warranty.
My friends camera however is a different proposition. Canon will not touch it as it is a FAKE! It was bought from Simply Electronics, a Hong Kong based mob who have a very dubious reputation on the web.
If anyone has bought a camera from this crowd, particularly a high end DSLR, check the serial number on the camera matches the one on the EXIF data. If its dosen’t you will have a problem, also if the serial number is less than 10 digits, you also have a duff one.
Canon told me at the time its the third one they’ve seen the other two where 500D’s
Simply Electronics stikes again !!!…the number of times people post on different sites that you can get this, that and the other from them at a ridiculously low price amazes me…would people before quoting any prices from them please do a web search and find out what they are really like…this is going on for years with them…one chap in our camera club never got gear worth €2700 delivered…took months for him to get his money back.
