Taken on a recent trip to NYC. Converted to B&W, straightened, cropped. Nothing else. Interested to see the reaction.

I think both shots had potential, the first is a little dark though it does show
the pool of light illuminating the crowd, the second could have done with a
little bit of exposure compensation so that the window was not quite to
blown, the rays of light coming through a great though. It must be the busiest time of day in there
wirepicParticipantThanks Jenny.
You’re right. Definitely more photographers than travellers. I think the travellers have a hard time getting through because of the photographers.
The first one I could have worked on too. But I said no. I’m going to put it up here and see what kind of reaction I get.
Yeah, I could have dialled back the exposure in the second but I just didn’t want to. I was there the day before when there was no sun shining in and the difference it makes is unbelievable. The whole place just glows. I was also reminded of the image in the middle of this page. I did know who took it at one stage but can’t remember now.
macmanParticipantI like both shots as I think they speak individually. The first one, dark and moody, I feel throws one’s attention onto the ‘individual’ as opposed to the building. The second does the opposite and shows the building and it’s majesty….! Yes perhaps a little blown out but personally speaking I don’t think it detracts too much from the shot. The rays are spectacular.
I like the first one best, if only for it’s tones…!!
wirepicParticipantThanks macman,
Exactly my thoughts on the second one. It is a bit blown but so what. Even my eyes found it hard to adjust so a camera has no hope. I could have done hdr, or exposed for the shadows and then the light and combined them to give a lovely photo correctly exposed for all elements. But then the power of the sun coming through the window would be lost.
TrumanMemberlousyParticipantBoth excellent shots in their own right, but I’d prefer #2 for the rays of light. I wouldn’t be overly concerned about the burn as PERHAPS it adds to the athmosphere IMO.

wirepicParticipantMarkKeymasterDeeboParticipanttwo really nice shots, very different and only a minute apart.
Both work great and I would be very pleased to own these.
