After many attempts to catch this, I managed to get one reasonable result. Found the lighting very difficult to get right.

Ah well, Back to the drawing board.

Must have been really hard trying to get that shot, was the seed at the bottom of the
frame moving? It doesnt really look like it was, not even sure how I would go about taking
such a shot, well done for trying anyway.

    Hi Jenny.
Yes, the seed was moving (spinning) & it was very hard to get it to fly in front of the lens. This was another attempt at 2nd curtain synch ( or rear curtain synch), where the flash fires at the end of the exposure freezing the object. The rotating trail (ghost image) is from a seperate light catching the highlights of the seed as it spins. This light (tungsten) gives the shot some warm colouring, but maybe too much & was a bit weak to light the trail as much as I would have liked. All in all, it was a frustrating & challenging shot to attempt, but I was semi-pleased with how it turned out.

I would say frustrating is putting it mildly :) Well done for attempting it in
the first place and an extra well done for capturing it!!

    A slightly better result IMO.

I agree! you can see the seed is moving with the trail it is leaving,

Thanks Macman. Patience is something I have in abundance. Skill is something I require.

Really cool! I think they’d look great as large prints as well.

There’s some really nice stuff on this macro forum – I’ll be stopping by to snoop on a more regular basis.
