Hi there, I have a school portrait shoot to do tomorrow, ( my first one) can anyone give me some tips, what would be the best setting on my camera? i have the canon 5d mark 2..
Manual – once you know what aperture, shutter speed and ISO to use. These will depend on the available light and also if you’re using lights, strobes or flash.
Maybe f/4 as your aperture?
I’m curious though, as to why you took a job without knowing what you’re going to do?
I’m helping a friend out, who is unable to do it … so I have no idea what type of room setting I will have until I get there … just got landed with it today
If your asking “what camera setting should I use”, you probably should have said no to the Job. Doing a School shoot, is a quick way to piss a lot of people off in one day.
In terms of advice, get there early and set up your equipment, use manual mode to maintain a standard between photos.
Use your histogram, expose to the right, shoot RAW, and above all else watch the posing, uniforms, ties, hair and smiles or no matter how technically excellent your shot is, parents won’t be happy.
Good luck.
