A few taken at Loughinisland Chruches yesterday. All images are 3 shot HDRs.

jonnyParticipantThanks for the comment. I agree with you with the sky in the third image as I’m not that happy with it myself and I think the first shot could do with a few curves adjustments at the very least.
Thanks again Tex
shutterbugParticipantHi jonny, I like all three composition wise, the first is a little over processed for
my taste as is number two, the third is the pick for me and not a lot you can do
about the sky, hdr tends to do that.SteveDParticipantThe first one is the one I like from a composition standpoint. To be totally honest I hate the tone mapped processing in all of them, and like most similarly processed images I think this is a way some photographers use Photoshop to try and make photos taken in poor light look interesting. It doesn’t work.
Imagine any of those shots taken with the warm side-lighting of a sunset, but processed normally in Photoshop; they would look infinitely better. I know we can’t always be in the right place at the right time, but if you don’t have the light, why bother with compositions that need it. Instead focus on detail and interesting textures.
I think some playing with the first one could rescue the shot, and by that I mean getting some blacks into the image. This trend of eliminating all deep shadows is one I don’t understand.
jonnyParticipantOk, so my HDRs haven’t worked to well. May I ask for your thoughts on the originals. All 3 have had slight curves adjustments in Photoshop.
shutterbugParticipantHDR isnt for everyone, but if you like it thats all that matters, and you shouldnt be
embarrassed to put them up, I do like HDR I love the way it can bring out the textures
especially in stonework when I stop liking it is when it starts to look like a drawing
or cartoon….but that is just my opinion. That said I still like the third shot the best
and you could probably recover the shadows a little bit more in ps if you knew how (I dont) :lol:DeeboParticipantdont be disheartened, this is good CC and will help you learn.
To be honest, the original looks look very flat, move the levels sliders to the white and black point and this will jump a bit.
Keep up the HDR work but dont overcook is the motto
