A Plover I think, but not sure which one. Any help with ID would be greatly appreciated.

Not a Plover I dont think? Its head doesnt look the right shape to me, they have
more of a neck and a slender head, I am thinking Sandpiper or Sanderling type of
bird. Did you see it flying? You can sometimes identify them better by the shape
of their wings and flight pattern.

    Nice shot anyway :)

    Thanks Jenny,
No I didn’t get a shot of it in flight, which I know would have been helpful.
I will check it out with again with my book of UK/Irish birds. A lot of these waders have similar features.

Hey Eugene, it was annoying me that I couldnt identify your little bird,
so I went on to the rspb site and it looks like it could be a Grey Plover,
so apologies you were right  ……and its still a nice pic!

Thanks Jenny for your help with this ID.
I’m glad it’s a most likely a Plover, especially as I haven’t got one of those before!
I took the shot on Wednesday at the Bull wall, always a good place for waders.

Hi Eugene, that’s a Grey Plover for sure. Lovely wee birds.
