This is one of a series of signal towers built around the west, south and east coasts in the early 19th century due to fears of a French invasion following the unsuccessful attempt to land 14,000 French troops in Bantry Bay in 1796.
Knockadoon is located a few miles east of Ballymacoda in East Cork.
I used a B&W 10 stop ND to give me a 60 second exposure.
Very nice John, the light on the tower is stunning as mentioned above. I was only thinking of heading out that way some morning to catch the sunrise, maybe sunset would be nicer. That’s the second shot of Knockadoon I’ve seen on here in the last few weeks, the tower can also be seen on my recent post on Youghal beach.
