LanganParticipant
Hi there! Can anyone tell me the best place to get affordable mounting board in Ireland or the UK.
Kevin :)
bigalguitarpickerParticipantHave a look in Eason’s Kevin, that’s where I bought mount board and stiff card during my few years as a (very) mature student.
Alex.Ger 208kParticipantO Sullivan Graphics on Camden St have a good range.

Ger.
DeeboParticipantI found ebay to be much much cheaper than the high street.
I have bought several times from this seller:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/johng9398/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686″ onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;Decent quality for frame or display in camera club
DeestcstcMemberbe careful what you buy
there are different levels of mountboard
the lowest level is cream core, which is what is sold in the art and hobby shops, this stuff will eat your prints over time
ScenesMemberThe cheapest option can sometimes prove to be a false economy.
Having seen the damage that cheap mounts can do over time, many top photographers are now insisting on conservation quality for their mounts.
If you do not want to venture on to the high street, there are lots of on-line suppliers who can offer this better quality product, however any decent picture framer should be able to help you.
brownieParticipanthttp://www.360-dpi.com/” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false; Steve Crozier or another PI site Sponsor http://www.google.com/url?q=http://www.framingfantastic.com/&sa=U&ei=f_cFT7qhNZCa8gOD4uGaDw&ved=0CAQQFjAA&client=internal-uds-cse&usg=AFQjCNGWZIHZxfgsv2BfZ_suPJXn-h2MVg” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;
I have used Framing Fantastic for years and they are a top class company to deal with as is Steve who answered the post above.Noel.
LanganParticipantnikkiParticipantGo to evans near marysa abbey just off capel street – cheapest in the city !
djjdomahonyParticipantHi Kevin,
Just letting you know that Strand Framing from West Cork are now selling picture and photo mounts, slip in mounts and backing boards online here. https://www.strandframing.com/buy-online/picture-mounts.
EddieParticipantPeter at thephotoshop.ie has some, good quality stuff, the shops around town generally sell an inferior board which has an acid core that turns brown, they will tell you it’s acid free but it’s only the outer board that’s acid free. If you want to buy in bulk Glenwood mouldings will supply do acid free a great range and will deliver for about a 10€. Peter will also arrange delivery.
stcstcMemberAcid free is a marketing term, it means absolutely nothing
it is more important that the term conservation quality is used
conservation quality board meets the fine art trade guild standard.
acid free, is term used that the board is acid free when its shipped. the board still contains lignin which is a naturally occurring acid in wood. and although its acid free when it leaves the factory the lignin can activate over time
Just a small point though, this is the 4th thread that has been dug up by djjdomahony. the last response before that was 2011. please don’t just dig up old threads just to sell your products
