PI trip to Connemara – May 11th/13th

Hi everybody and a Happy New Year to you all. Just a quick question to send out as to who would be interested in a trip to Connemara this year. I don’t mind organising this (with a bit of help from Steve, mind you he doesn’t know this yet!) if I had a rough idea of how many people would be interested, time of year to go, how many days/nights to stay and what kind of accommodation people would like to stay in or if people would like to try doing it in one day. If there is enough interest then we could easily make this happen, my only problem is i don’t know that part of the country very well so any kind of input from any PI members living on the West coast or indeed anybody who has spent a bit of time in the West would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

BMParticipantConnemara would be a great destination.
Given its remoteness, I suggest a weekend – could take Friday pm and a good part of Sunday travelling leaving all of Saturday to look at the mist …
colgo2212ParticipantHi everybody, time to get this idea for a trip to Connemara into full swing. Due to the small amount of replies and the suggestion from Brian what I suggest is we make a weekend of it and the dates I propose are;
30th March – 1st April
or
20th April – 22nd April
or
11th May – 13th MayIf those who are interested could please reply with there preference it would be a great!!!!!
Also what needs to be thought about/discussed is what kind of accomdation people would like e.g. B&B, Hotel of maybe try and rent a cottage for the couple of days (I am not sure if you can rent somewhere for just 2 nights, or maybe you can!)
As I said at the very beginning I dont know this part of the country at all (typical Dub) and I think for this trip to work we would need some local knowledge as there is no point in heading to this part of the country on a photography trip and not knowing the good places to go to, so if anybody has any ideas or suggestions on where to go or indeed who to contact it would be great also.
Thanks,
Niallp.s. Niall I have set up a poll to make things easier? Steve

BMParticipantI’ll check dates in the morning to make sure no clashes.
Been there a few times (on 2 wheels and flying through) but will do a bit of research.
colgo2212ParticipantThanks Cathal for the info on the accommodation and to Brian for taking on a bit of research!
Will give the poll about another week to run before making any further arrangements.

So anybody who IS GOING TO GO on these dates will they please start putting their names down so that I can start trying to arrange accommodation.

The festival is planned for the last week of June and the first weekend of July. We had a small PI gathering the last time this event sailed into Galway, I have great memories of the event, the weather was just best we could have hoped for. I remember a couple of us got toasted on the day.
Dave.
