Kerry Lake.

Grey2kParticipant
This is just a small lake out the back of my brother’s estate in Killorglin. I’m a new user, this being my first post, looking for some insight into what i’m doing right and wrong.
Kerry Sunset. by Grey 2K, on FlickrtexMemberYou have a strong composition but overall your picture is too dark. I’m sure you can lighten it up in photoshop or some other programme.

Looks a nice spot
DeeGrey2kParticipantBelieve it or not that was my second attempt, I removed my first one because it was too dark.. I tend to overuse blacks when I edit, maybe it’s my “style” :)
I’ll have another look and attempt to brighten it up.
BMParticipantThere’s probably a great composition there – just a bit dark to make out.
Your brother has an estate?

It’s a housing estate :) There was supposed to be a hotel built where I took this picture but thankfully that project is on hold. I have a bunch of different images from this shoot, I picked that one mostly out of gut instinct and I liked the silhouette of the broken fence trailing into the foreground.
shutterbugParticipantWelcome to the site and well done on your first post! I really like it, yes it is
dark but I do think it suits it, maybe a little tiny bit brighter in the bottom right
just to bring out a little more detail. But well done :)The Kew TourMemberGrey2k
I like this shot, especially the colours that you see in the reflection from the water. Personally, I like the silhouette and don’t find it too dark at all. What I would do though if it were mine, is crop it in more of a 3:1 ratio so that you lose the 3 rocks that are isolated in the bottom left of the image. This shot would look great as a panoramic image. Keep up the good work.

Grey2kParticipantStrange you should say that I actually shot a panorama of the scene that night. I’m not sure how well it came out, I find panoramas get very squeezed, and the stitching software isn’t always the best.
