I got the loan of a 60d and this was one of my first attempts at a digital landscape shot
    its straight from the camera.
I was trying to get the waterfall from the waves over the rocks. The sky was spectacular, (but you would not believe it from this photo) and it had the potential to be a great shot

I’m afraid you copied the wrong tag, you need to open your photo in flickr and copy and paste the img tag into your post. Have a look at the link below if you have further trouble.

You say the image is straight from the camera? So unedited? Did you shoot in raw, if so you can probably recover quite a bit of the detail in PP.

Failing that a Graduated ND filter over the sky would have evened out the exposure and revealed the sky you say was spectacular. I really like the ethereal quality of the foreground, maybe try a tighter crop.

Definitely a graduated ND filter would have made a huge difference to the sky. As said above if you have a raw file you might be able to recover some detail. The foreground of the image is very nice even though I think you could have included a bit more water.

thanks for tips guys. i guess ill have to figure out how to do something with the raw file. But I see what you mean about a grad filter. It would be better to get it right in the camera, than attempting to recover it after. getting more water in was not really an option , this was one of the few shots that did not have water splashes/drops on the lens

if you have a raw file …process it twice , once for the foreground and once for the sky ( push that recovery slider all the way!!) and then blend the 2. you should be able improve it a good bit…someone recommended i do that rather than use filters…unless you can afford very good , high quality filters , like lee. i have the hi-tec and the they do leave a tint. so i have taken their advice and tried the bracketing ..more work , but worth it.
