Hi guys Im going to be taking a few photos at a party this friday it is going to be in a bar. Can anyone give me some basic tips to get the best results?
Keeping it open at 1.8 to get as much light in. Sure i’ll probably end up using the flash which means the background will be out of range so a shallow depth of field isn’t a bad thing.
Is 800 considered high iso? I know my D3100 goes to 3200 but I find anything higher than 800 gets a little noisy.
Hi – for some shots – use a slow shutter speed…say 1/20, 1/30 or even slower – and put the flash onto 2nd/rear curtain synch. The flash will ‘freeze’ the action (as long as subjects aren’t moving too fast) and the slower shutter speed will let in more ambient light.
Trail & error – but results can be good. Try even slower again, rear/2nd curtain – and panning as subjects walk or dance..
