derrycityParticipantderrycityParticipant
shocking 59 people veiwed this and not one comment i have this on another forum and more feed back than this
looks like this forum is dyeing a slow death.5faytheParticipantHi Phil,
I too would like to see more replies and critique for images posted here.
I haven’t been as active as I’d like myself recently although I regulary search
“View Unanswered Posts” and try to comment on as many as I can.
I have many reasons for that which i don’t wish to articulate here but it’s not because
I think there is anything basically wrong with the site.As a matter of interest how many posts by other members have you commented
on in say the last six months?Cheers,
John.
insertnamehereParticipantBit harsh derry?
Try not to take it personally!
Your photos are nice by the way. I’m not familiar with the bridge but I like the framing and the reflections (the first is better on both counts I think).
Mark.
jodal1975Participantlike the 1st one , the 2nd could have done with a slightly shorter shutter…
poolbegphotoMemberI think the framing is fine in both, but these really would have been a lot more compelling with a bit of light in the sky. The black is pretty overwhelming and dominates both images. If you got a similar shot around dusk (whatever time that is), you’d get a bit of blue in the sky which would lift the picture no end.
Mick-skylineParticipantits a bit of an odd bridge, seen it a fair few times, sometimes the lights are on and others theres only some on,
pics look well, no orange glow in the sky which usually happens on long exposure shots over the city, but as said a hint of sundown would set it off lovely, but timing isnt always available, i like the first one the best
markclehaneParticipantYou’re not the first to post up images that warrant at least some kind of comment but get ignored. I’m guilty myself of looking at images without leaving some reply and there are a multitude of reasons for that. Sometimes I feel it’s an ok shot but can’t decide how to improve it. Or it could be from a genre I feel I’m not really qualified to comment on, e.g. Wildlife or Sports. I constantly go through shots in the Portrait section but rarely comment as I’ve only ever taken a handful myself so presume someone more experienced should reply instead. Anyway, as Mark said…try not take it too personally. We’ve nearly all had the dreaded unanswered post  I’d nearly prefer if I got one reply saying “Sorry bud, thats just one crappy shot” At tleast then I’d know.
So to your photos. For some reason I’m more drawn to the second one. I find the reflections more dominant and the colours in general are more vibrant. I also prefer the composition. There’s something about the foreground of the first one that I don’t like – possibly it’s the ripples. On that note, how did you manage to capture them in a night shot? Would have presumed the obvious slow shutter speed would have blurred them away.
By the way, I actually like the black sky but I’d probably be in a minority on that one.
MarkderrycityParticipantwould just like to thank every one who reply’ed with feedback and comments i think we are all guilty of not giving any feedback but it does inspire us to take advise for the next shoot
advise and critique is always good to read be it positive or negitive .
thanks Philbeans1981ParticipantI think I prefer the second shot and I think the black sky adds to the vibrant colours. I can also see that some of the river is blurred which is what you would expect with a slow shutter speed but parts are not which is different. Colours and reflections are very nice.
Al5faytheParticipantHi Phil,
I like the two images.
They are very colourful.I too like the black sky here.
I think the colours stand out well against it.Cheers,
John.
