Is it just me or would you think one of these pictures is softer than the other. They are a lot softer than what I see on the file on my hard drive but I think one of these is off a little more than the other

Pleses let me know what you think.

The bottom one’s highlights seem a bit blown out and looks a bit softer to me .

I am starting to think it is not who is hosting the pictures but what website they are being displayed on.

I posted this very same thread on this site and another photography site and got two different results. On one site people thought the Flickr picture was softer and on the other people thought the Photobucket image was softer.

The only thing I can think of, is that the forum hosting and the picture hosting companies might not be 100% compatible.

Well if nothing else I have confirmed it is not just me and I am not going mad……….. (Well maybe I am but more of that later)

    Thanks for the replies.

Talking about PI, we just display them without any processing as such. Its just a url wrapped in img tags, no processing.

When you upload to a host company many of them will resize using their own algorithm’s which often results in differences in quality.
You might find some sites would show some pixelation for example, which others won’t.
