Adobe Lightroom 4 Released
-
paulParticipant
I see that Lightroom 4 has now been released. http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom/features.html” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;
Anyone tried the beta? Any comments? Worth upgrading to?
damien.murphyParticipantInterested in comments from those who have upgraded too, as I believe the final version has a few changes in it from the beta. Had a quick look at the feature list, but did not see much in there to convince me there were any real killer features in it, from LR3. Any more informative opinion definitely welcome though :)
BallymanParticipantI have the 4.0 version and to be honest I’m not sure it’s worth the upgrade at the moment. There seems to be very little difference in the develop module that is worthwhile.
paulParticipantI’ve been using it now since full release. It’s a bit slower at processing than Lightroom 3.
But, there are a lot more control options when processing images, especially when you use the 2012 processing option. It gives a lot more control when dealing with bright/dark parts of the image. If you shoot raw, this will just give you so much more scope to process an image and will give much better colours and contrast to the images. The Whites/blacks option sliders are very useful.
I also find the lens correction feature much more accurate and has a lot more lenses to select from.
The graduated filters and brushes also have more control and can be used a lot more selectively than before.
Overall, there are more develop options than ever before, but it takes time to get used to them and see how useful they can be. The Adobe tutorials website, and also Scott Kelby site has some brilliant tutorials on how to get the most out of the new features.
paulParticipantI see Adobe are working on 4.1, and RC1 is now released for testing.

Some fixes for the performance issues.
