Think I over sharpened this one, and I am not sure about the eyes but i felt when i left them B&W it left the image very flat. On saying this I was very happy with the image when I printed out a sample.
As always would love some advice.
    Shot with Canon 450d 50mm f/2.5 1/200 sec, ISO-200

Beautiful shot, just one small niggle, little specks around the baby’s mouth
I think it would look better without them, but overall it is a lovely shot.

John thanks for your comment I’am truly glad you like the image (don’t worry I wont tell you it’s my son) as for being a hypocrite we have all been guilty of that at some stage. I believe people put up images of there children, family, pets even homes because as photographers that’s were we all start to experiment and explore our skills. Plus I think sharing personal images with one another helps develop a seance of community. That’s just my opinion.

Claudio also thanks for your comment, I can recover the highlights but i felt when I did it tuck away from the contrast between the light and the shadow but may be i should try recover some more detail.
    Thanks again Gus

Shutterbug your absolutely spot on or should that be spot off :) thanks for the kind words.

very nice indeed !! i do agree with claudio that maybe bringing back some of the detail in the highlights would be nice . you could always burn those lovely shadows 2 or 3 % to keep your contrast . …..that said , only a small point :-) really top shot .

Mark S, thanks very much for your kind words.

jodal1975, I am relatively new to photography and image processing, so I’am not sure what you mean by burn the shadows 2-3% but i will look it up thanks for the advice and also thank you for your encouraging words.

    I love the image,

    It is very eye catching.
I usually hate the selective colouring thing too, but in this image really works.

It helps that the baby is really cutie.
