Really like this – it’s very dramatic, and I like the way it comes out of the black background. I might have preferred to see a bit more depth of field but I realise that may not have been possible.
Technique please?!
shutterbugParticipantThanks, settings were ISO 200, 1/60s f2.8 105mm macro lens,
flash used off camera directly underneath pointing up, it was a
very quick shot without much care, so I was surprised how it turned
out! :lol:jodal1975ParticipantshutterbugParticipantmiki gParticipantHi Jenny. Really nice. I find the green bits at the top left petal a bit eyecatching, but could be easily removed.
Hairy GusParticipantshutterbugParticipantThanks miki & Gus, I cant believe how quickly the buds have all
opened, I think I will try some more now they are full blown.voicuParticipantthe way it is now is beautiful, but if you add a bit of black around the top left petal it will be perfect.
excellent use of flash.shutterbugParticipantSodafarlMemberJenny
Lovely image I hope you have it printed.
Thanks for the setup details.Soda
shutterbugParticipantmarkclehaneParticipantLovely shot Jenny. Been a while since I took flower close ups so thanks for the inspiration :D
I’d have to agree with mikig about the green behind the top left petal but it should be easy enough to sort out.
Also, and this is only my opinion – if you are going to print it, I think it might look better with some of the black at the bottom cropped off. I know it makes the lilly stand out but for me there’s possibly a bit too much.
Mark.shutterbugParticipantThanks Mark, I know sometimes a picture of something we have not taken in a
while gives us a kick start, glad to be of service :)sndipoMemberNice and simple! Think I agree with the crop from the bottom suggestion. Well done and if it came with so little effort.. :)
