Only two markets. Comments welcome.
1.
I wish I hadn’t worn this hat by wirepic, on Flickr2.
I’m telling ya, sure I’m looking at her now by wirepic, on Flickr3.
I knew I should have worn my stillettos by wirepic, on Flickr5faytheParticipantHi Fergus,
The more experienced I get at this photography lark the less qualified I feel to
comment on anything but I feel every post deserves a comment so here are
my thoughts.I love the look of these.
The colours and tones are very pleasing to my eye.The eye contact in #1 is excellent.
You have done well to isolate him a little from the couple who had such bad
timing to walk in to your frame although I feel it would be better if they weren’t
directly behind his head.
You have included his customer which I think is good although maybe a little more of her
might have been better.
This is my favourite of the three as I feel it shows the man in his environment and we see
exactly what he is doing.I wondered why #2 wasn’t presented in B&W like #1.
The big splash of red is hard to ignore here even though the colours are lovely.
I also feel we are not really told as good a story as in #1 as the man on the phone could be
a stallholder or a customer or just a man on a phone standing next to a plant stall.#3 is the least effective IMO and maybe because there may have been a better image there.
The lady, who has a face full of character, is obviously interacting with something or somebody but we are not privvy to what or whom.
Not sure if the 3 ladies in the background are part of her scene or a different scene.
Then there is the little triangle of oof jacket in the lower LH corner sort of blocking my way into the photograph.Thems my thoughts and of course only one opinion and as I said earlier…….
Well done and thanks for sharing.
John.
adamroryporterParticipantA wonderful insight! I wish we had more of these markets here. I really like all 3 shots and find no.1 to be my favourite. Thanks for sharing. I don’t feel qualified enough to critique more as I’ve taken very few if none of these documentary kind of shots.
wirepicParticipantThanks for both replies.
John, for #2 I just didn’t bother looking at it in B&W. It’s only now that you mention it that I see the big red van in the background. I’ll have a look at it in b&w and see how it goes.
#1. Well, it’s a market on a busy street. If there aren’t people walking behind the subject they’re directly in front if it. This was the best I got of this guy. Once he saw the camera he went off and hid in a van. Something a lot of people seemed to do once they saw the camera.
#3. I was just fascinated by how small this woman was.
