Hopefully a bit of positive PR

I had the good fortune of being the photographer at Mike Denver’s (Irish Country & Western Singer) recent wedding. There was a 10 page spread on the wedding in May’s edition of VIP Magazine which is on the shelves today.
Three years into my my new Full Time Profession, I’m very happy with the direction in which my business is going and this is the first time that one of my weddings is getting featured in a magazine.
It’s funny how we all look at images differently…..I would have shown a completely different set of images if the choice was mine….images that are a bit more technical from a photographers point of view….Off Camera Flash as well as some beautiful Bridal Portraits that I’m quite proud of….but punters probably have no interest in that kind of stuff!!
Hope I’ll get some positive feedback none the less :)
shutterbugParticipantWell done and congratulations Johnny, you must be very pleased to get
into such a well read magazine, I am sure it will be nothing but beneficial
to your business……great to hear some good news for a change :)jodal1975Participantwell 1st and foremost congratulations ,thats a pretty big coup for you as a photographer . great shot youve posted as an example . perfect exposure ( is that just natural light coming through windows/doors?), lovely setting etc…
mwallParticipantwell done John,
good to hear that the business plan is coming through…
same question as Jodal…is that natural light…look like it is, great shot too…Ashford Castle?
MjohnnymcParticipantThank you very much for the positive comments.
There was a window to the rh side where there was a limited amount of light coming in. I’m using a light through an umbrella to camera right and that’s the main light source. I also have a light hidden behind the groom lighting the back of the bride to give a nice backlight to her as well as a bit of separation from the background. I’m away from my computer now but I think I was ISO 600, F2.8 at 1/40th second. Canon 5D2 and 24/70 F2.8l len. The room was quite dark, umbrellas are great for dispersing light.
I appreciate the kind comments, thank you once again for taking the time to write them.
There are a few other images that I’m pretty happy with, but will be a while before I put them on my site….the fact that VIP have exclusivity at present means I’ll let them have their glory. :)
trueblueMemberJust wanted to say congratulations and well done on getting published in vip must have a look and see the shots. The image you posted above is excellent great shot.
johnnymcParticipantThanks very much for the compliment trueblue, I appreciate you taking the time to comment.
