Tree at sunset

A little dabble in hdr, this is a four shot processed in Photomatix, not to everyone’s taste
but a little hdr now and then never hurt anyone :)Taken with a 15mm fisheye lens, I was standing about ten foot away from the tree, the
horizon is actually not that “hilly” but I liked the effect.miki gParticipantVery nice Jenny. I wouldn’t normally be a fan of HDR, but when it’s not OTT, it can look good, as is the case here.
jodal1975ParticipantRASMITH32MemberThis is really nice!, The HDR is subtle…….slight halo around the tree but only noticable if you look for it. Love the surreal feel to it. Traditionally central compositions dont work for me personally BUT your converging sides (fisheye result) serve to frame the tree and make the cetral composition work IMO.
Love the detail in the grass. If I was to mark this out of 10 and bearing in mind that this is up for critique so dont be offended ( I have noted some posters take offence to critique even though they have posted for same :-| (that frustrates me!) I would give it an 8 with two points dropped for the following…..
1. Blown out spot just above the sun ( I would try layer in most under exposed image to try correct?)
2. Halo around Tree. That said I do think both are fixable and would be worth the fix IMO
Not your usual theme this one ……But I would encourage it, Well done
sndipoMemberOh, great seeing you trying something different! I am not fully convinced about the central composition this time but I like the processing! Well done and looking forward to seeing some more! :)
shutterbugParticipantThanks very much for the comments everyone, I took loads of shots but this and one
other were the only two worth keeping. I am not great with photoshop and would probably
do more harm than good if I tried to fix this, but I will have a go.Thanks again for looking! :)
RitaMembershutterbugParticipantThanks Rita :) I will definitely go back there and do more, I would say there would
be a photograph there no matter what the weather………though it is nice when the
sun shines :)lousyParticipantIt sure doesn’t hurt, especially when it turns out like this!!!
Absolutely beautiful image Jenny…. love landscapes anyway.

shutterbugParticipantsaberMemberBuckParticipantThis is a great image one you should print and hang in your home. Just one point I would remove the wooden post on the right hand side on the bridge.
shutterbugParticipantdamien.murphyParticipantI think the thing that jumps out at me in this image is that the grass is as bright as the setting sun, and this makes it feel a little visually unnatural for me. Don’t mind HDR other than that, and like that you tried it :)
shutterbugParticipantThanks Damien, the grass doesnt look overly green on my screen, but that doesnt mean
that my screen is right of course  Thanks again for looking!
