Hotels in Rome

Hi there. My wife and I are going to Rome (minus the kids) next February. I have never been there before so i am looking for advise/suggestions on Hotels.

We are only going for 3 nights so we want to be in the centre of Rome ie walking distance to Colosseum (on my bucket list) and other places of interest.

Not looking to break the bank here so unless 5 star hotels are doing truly unbelievable deals we can leave them out.

    Thursday to a Sunday.

    Cheers in advance.

    Mark,
I stayed in a hotel on Via Labicana, thats the street that runs directly by the Colosseum, but it was 2002 and I’m fairly sure it was the Mercure Roma Delta Colosseo, (memory a bit hazy…it was a rugby trip and a good weekend!). Anyway, it was a decent hotel, clean, compact, 2 minutes walk from the colosseum. Rome from what I remember is a compact city , easy to get around too. February is a good month to visit, not over crowded with tourists and beautiful temperature. Check hotels on trip advisor too.
hope this is of some help…

we stayed in the “hotel fiume” IN 2011 , really , really nice. slightly boutique style . lovely clean modern rooms/bathrooms….and an EXCELLENT breakfast!! (which included a huge bowl of oranges that was refilled every few mins and a machine to make as much fresh orange juice as you can hadle! also a few hot meats along with everything you can imagine from the continental style brekkie) it can be expensive but also can do very good deals . we got 4 nights for e320 in february , which isn’t bad for a 4star hotel !! its a bit out , about 7/8 mins from ‘via nationale’ so 35 mins from the colloseum/trevi/pantheon if your walking ..BUT ..theres a shop next door that sells bus tickets and 3 bus stops about a 45 second walk away that will get you anywhere in the city in 15 MINS. shops and good local style cafe/restaurants very close to hotel ( 1/2 the price of the centre and much better quality). we are hoping to go back very soon !

This one also looks good: Maikol,

We’ve signed up to Hotels.com and have used them a lot. We’ve gotten some pretty good deals when travelling with them.

Envy you going to Rome. Rome is on my bucket list!
