Johnstown Castle

mwallParticipant
Enjoyed a great weekend in neighbouring County Wexford last week, and as the weather was fab I hadn’t planned to do any photography. I was persuaded to visit Johnston Castle and I wasn’t sorry. The castle is closed to public but the grounds are great for walks and there are a number of museums at the back, but the one that stood out for me was the one on the famine. I would highly recommend a trip. This photo was taken at around 1pm under a very bright sun, no filters and handheld.
aoluainParticipant5faytheParticipantHi Mike,
I’m glad you had an enjoyable time in Wexford.
Johnstown Castle is a lovely place to spend a few hours. The castle is also one of the most photgraphed landmarks in
Wexford which makes it very difficult to come up with a new angle. This is a really nice image especially considering the time of day.
Cheers,
John.
mwallParticipantThanks guys,
Aoluain…it does look oversharpened when I check it against the original, but I didn’t touch the sharpening. I have reprocessed it and it looks better, I may have added a little too much contrast before.
John…really enjoyed this spot. Could have gone out to Saltees but that would have been too selfish on a weekend away!
BuckParticipantThis is a wounderful shot and the angle you took it from works very well. The bird taking off add to the shot and composition.
mwallParticipantthanks Noel,
I took 7 shots of this bird in various stages of landing and take off, this one was best.texMemberI’m afraid the harsh lighting leaves the scene rather 2 dimensional as you were probably aware it would.
mwallParticipantthanks tex…one of those days when you don’t want to take a shot but you can’t resist!
Paul WhParticipantmwallParticipantthanks Paul…I know you’re referring to the harsh sunlight (and not that I should have left camera at home on a weekend away!) :D
alanhunt99ParticipantReally like this. The bird adds to the photo. Love the fact that you can only see part of the castle.
Well donemwallParticipant
